Oscars 2015 Trend - Nudes and Soft Pink Pastel

Monday, February 23, 2015

One of the greatest holidays in America took place at the Dolby Theater last night. Yes, I consider the Oscars a holiday. My obsession with award shows leads my mind to believe that they are indeed holidays. Or at least they feel like it, in my pop-culture-obsessed head.

Last night, Hollywood's royalty stepped out on the red carpet and put on their best as we honored the year's cinematic achievements in the film industry.

Blah blah blah. We all know that about 80% of us only watch the Oscars so we can sit on our couches with our wine and popcorn and "oooooh" and "ahhhhh" and "ewwww" at the fashion choices our favorite A-listers make.

One trend I noticed at the Oscars (and for the spring 2015 season in general) is the abundant amount of pastel pink, crème, and nude colored clothing. I'm the type of girl that rides and dies for the color black. On a normal day, you will see me walking down the street head-to-toe in black. But recently, I've taken a keen interest in wearing nude/pastel colors. And from what I saw last night on the red carpet, these celebs are taking in the same interest.

I'm hopping on the bandwagon and giving pastels a try. I'm obsessed with this long coat I just purchased from Forever 21. It's the perfect shade of soft, baby pink pastel. It's also extremely lightweight, which makes it so perfect for spring! I paired it with a crème colored shirt and nude pants

Here's how these celebs took the nude/pink trend and brought it the the ultimate fashion showdown of the year.
Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa

Faith Hill in J. Mendel

Zoe Saldana in Atelier Versace (my favorite look of the night!!!)

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu

Julianne Moore in Chanel

Viola Davis in Zac Posen

Gwyneth Paltrow in Ralph & Russo Couture

Jennifer Anniston in Versace

Oprah Winfrey in Vera Wang

North West - Future Fashion Designer?

Monday, November 10, 2014

We all remember that horrid day when Kim Kardashian stepped out in public with that "creation" of Kanye's...

Need a refresher?

Yeah, the Instagram community did not approve.

Kim took her customized Hermes bag game to another level, by sporting a purse not created by a professional artist, but rather by someone much younger. Someone maybe only a year old.

Little North West is the designer of Kim's latest accessory. She was spotted today out in Los Angeles with bae Kanye sporting another custom-made Birkin. This time, it was designed by her very talented daughter. It was revealed last month that North had given mer mamma the hand-painted Birkin for her birthday.

The bag features a brown leather handle and off-white body, which looked to sport a small orange handprint surrounded by blue and white splashes of paint. Kim offset the colorful accessory with a simple outfit, an understated grey coat over a fitted white dress paired with nude heels. She wore her dark hair in loose waves and sported heavy black eye makeup and subtle lips.

Kim said last month that she was delighted with the unique gift Kanye helped their 16-month-old daughter create - and admitted that, until she saw footage of the youngster decorating the purse, she thought it had been created by an up-and-coming artist, such as her first customized Birkin.

She said: "Kanye had a box (with an Hermes purse in it) and I opened it up and it was all painted really cool and on my computer was this message that said "Play" and it was a video of my daughter sitting outside painting the purse.

"I had thought it was this new artist who had painted this purse [but] it was my daughter. It was amazing."

It can't get any more cuter than this. I can't wait to see what little North creates next!

Chanel's Feminist Pep Rally - Paris Fashion Week

Thursday, October 2, 2014

He's done it again. Karl has outdone himself with a one-of-a-kind, never before seen finale to one of the greatest fashion houses in the world. Why not end a fashion show with a full out riot in the streets?? There's just no other way to do it.

This has got to be one of the most creative and innovative shows I've seen. Chanel displayed their Spring/Summer 2015 collection last week in Paris and it's one to talk about. With mix of fun designs and bright colors, while alluding to the more tame side with some more toned down, darker looks, Chanel knows what their doing. Most importantly, Karl is the Einstein of fashion that led this full on riot down Chanel Boulevard.

Chanel's Spring/Summer '15 collection, on Chanel Boulevard

These styles were made for the streets, but not just any street. They were made for Chanel Boulevard. Guests were shocked as the entered the set: a boulevard with pedestrian crossing surrounded by 19th century trompe l'oeil apartments.

I mean come on, just look at how badass he is.

While the feminist protest was the main highlight of the show, we can't forget the great looks that came down the runway.

Kudos Chanel, kudos. Now when are we signing the adoption papers Karl???
