Floor-Duster Coats Sweeping up Fall Fashion Week

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

Okay, seriously? How is it already fall? Wasn't it only the other day I was flying to Las Vegas to battle the hot, dry, summer June desert?

In the midst of all the fall fashion week frenzy that is upon us, one must keep pace with the latest trends. Fall is known to be the most influential and thriving time in the fashion industry. The climate change obliges us to begin the layering process, and urges fashion-lovers to turn to the experts for the trends of the upcoming season. This fall, a chic trend to keep an eye on is the “Floor-Duster Coat.”

In simpler terms, the floor duster coat is nothing but ankle length jacket or coat. This is a huge craze that has revived its prominence in the fashion world within the last few years. One fashion icon in particular that brought this trend to the public eye is Kim Kardashian. She is notoriously known for her long coats in all colors and styles possibly known to (the fashion) man.

Not only are these coats super stylish, they keep you warm and cozy through those harsh winter weathers. You can easily dress them up or down with the right outfit underneath. When you step out this holiday season, pair your cocktail dress with a floor duster coat to add elegance, sophistication, and style, all while maintaining the warmth you need and crave.

Fall Fashion Week 2014 was a huge year for the floor dusters. Here are a few from the runway last year - you're guaranteed to see more designs at this years shows.

Oscars 2015 Trend - Nudes and Soft Pink Pastel

Monday, February 23, 2015

One of the greatest holidays in America took place at the Dolby Theater last night. Yes, I consider the Oscars a holiday. My obsession with award shows leads my mind to believe that they are indeed holidays. Or at least they feel like it, in my pop-culture-obsessed head.

Last night, Hollywood's royalty stepped out on the red carpet and put on their best as we honored the year's cinematic achievements in the film industry.

Blah blah blah. We all know that about 80% of us only watch the Oscars so we can sit on our couches with our wine and popcorn and "oooooh" and "ahhhhh" and "ewwww" at the fashion choices our favorite A-listers make.

One trend I noticed at the Oscars (and for the spring 2015 season in general) is the abundant amount of pastel pink, crème, and nude colored clothing. I'm the type of girl that rides and dies for the color black. On a normal day, you will see me walking down the street head-to-toe in black. But recently, I've taken a keen interest in wearing nude/pastel colors. And from what I saw last night on the red carpet, these celebs are taking in the same interest.

I'm hopping on the bandwagon and giving pastels a try. I'm obsessed with this long coat I just purchased from Forever 21. It's the perfect shade of soft, baby pink pastel. It's also extremely lightweight, which makes it so perfect for spring! I paired it with a crème colored shirt and nude pants

Here's how these celebs took the nude/pink trend and brought it the the ultimate fashion showdown of the year.

Faith Hill in J. Mendel

Zoe Saldana in Atelier Versace (my favorite look of the night!!!)

Jennifer Anniston in Versace

Oprah Winfrey in Vera Wang

North West - Future Fashion Designer?

Monday, November 10, 2014

We all remember that horrid day when Kim Kardashian stepped out in public with that "creation" of Kanye's...

Need a refresher?

Yeah, the Instagram community did not approve.

Kim took her customized Hermes bag game to another level, by sporting a purse not created by a professional artist, but rather by someone much younger. Someone maybe only a year old.

Little North West is the designer of Kim's latest accessory. She was spotted today out in Los Angeles with bae Kanye sporting another custom-made Birkin. This time, it was designed by her very talented daughter. It was revealed last month that North had given mer mamma the hand-painted Birkin for her birthday.

The bag features a brown leather handle and off-white body, which looked to sport a small orange handprint surrounded by blue and white splashes of paint. Kim offset the colorful accessory with a simple outfit, an understated grey coat over a fitted white dress paired with nude heels. She wore her dark hair in loose waves and sported heavy black eye makeup and subtle lips.

Kim said last month that she was delighted with the unique gift Kanye helped their 16-month-old daughter create - and admitted that, until she saw footage of the youngster decorating the purse, she thought it had been created by an up-and-coming artist, such as her first customized Birkin.

She said: "Kanye had a box (with an Hermes purse in it) and I opened it up and it was all painted really cool and on my computer was this message that said "Play" and it was a video of my daughter sitting outside painting the purse.

"I had thought it was this new artist who had painted this purse [but] it was my daughter. It was amazing."

It can't get any more cuter than this. I can't wait to see what little North creates next!
